According to another study published in the same journal in 2013, even the bleaching protocols used by dentists seem to be harmful for the dental pulp, since the damage in that area is directly correlated to the number of bleaching sessions. Odontoblasts, are directly damaged or show a significant decrease in their metabolic activity as a result of the bleaching sessions using 35% hydrogen peroxide gel. It is believed that this effect may result in tissue irritation and tooth sensitivity. A study published in the journal Scientific World Journal in 2013 shows that the higher the concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the faster it reaches the inner tooth tissues. The authors tested 35% and 20% concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and report that the 35% hydrogen peroxide diffused faster into the pulp chamber than the 20% hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel.

It is speculated that lower concentrations of hydrogen peroxide may have significantly less toxic effects on dental pulp cells, because there is more time to dilute and degrade the peroxide that reaches the pulp. However, the long-term or even short-term effects of daily use of hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash have never been evaluated. They Said Hydrogen Peroxide Was Great, But They didn’t tell You This


In case of cuts and bleeding wounds, we have all been taught to use hydrogen peroxide. It is also known to be good for disinfecting skin in both adults and children.

 However, you may have not heard that hydrogen peroxide has plenty of other uses, aside from these? Hydrogen peroxide’s chemical formula is H2O2 and when pure, it is transparent and very water-like.

Although it looks like water, hydrogen peroxide is much more different in content and is richer in oxygen.  If brought to a boiling point, hydrogen peroxide is bound to explode.

In households around the world, a milder and more diluted version of hydrogen peroxide is used. The general chemical we use at home is normally present from 3 to 5 percent.

When we cut ourselves and pout hydrogen peroxide on the wound, the solution actually releases oxygen molecules and, thus, the bubbling appears.

It is incredible to learn so much more uses and benefits from hydrogen peroxide, so we present the full list below.

Note: The majority of these uses refer to a 3% consistency of hydrogen peroxide. Also, the abbreviation ‘HP’, found throughout the list, stands for hydrogen peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide uses and benefits:

1.) Destruction of viruses- to do this the best way, place three drops of 3 percent HP in each ear. Let the solution act for 10 minutes, and then drain it from ears. According to experts, this method enables easy prevention against flu and cold. You will also get rid of the ear wax as well.

2.) Elimination of pesticides- to protect your vegetables from holding pesticides used in their growing process use about ¼ a cup of HP. Place it in a bowl together with 3 cups of water.

Soak your vegetables in this solution for half an hour. Afterwards, rinse well and place them in the fridge. Make sure your vegetables are healthy and whole, to prevent HP from soaking inside the product.

3.) Kills off airborne germs- to do this best, use humidifier and mix 1 pint of 3 percent HP together with 1 gallon of water. Add mix to the humidifier and let it soak properly. The mixture’s content will neutralize airborne germs effectively and will bring great antibacterial properties.

4.) Teeth whitening- HP is contained in almost all whitening products you use at home. Through oxidation, it will give your teeth shine and bling instantly. Brush your teeth with your regular toothpaste.

Then, mix 2 teaspoons of water with 1 teaspoon of 3 percent HP. Gargle with liquid ell for one minute, without swallowing. Spit out the mix and rinse mouth with water. Repeat three times a week.

5.) Lightens toenails and fingernails- Soak nails in 3 percent HP and hold for some time. When done, rinse well and admire the results.

6.) Hair bleacher- HP acts as a milder version of other recommended hair bleachers. Use it as you would use any other bleaching product to get top results.

7.) Hair locks highlights- use HP on damp hair by spraying it and you will get light and fresh highlights. Keep spray on for 15 minutes before rinsing it.

8.) Body detoxification- just dip into a bath with HP in it. Take 1 cup of 35 percent HP and place it into a tub of water. Lie in the bathtub for 30 minutes and then shower as per usual.

9.) Sinus cleanser- whenever you are having sinus problems, you can clear them with HP. Just mix 1 cup of water with 1 cap full of HP. For more stuffed sinuses, use more concentrated HP solution.

10.) Relieve toothache- toothaches can be dealt with by using HP as a remedy. Prepare a mixture of HP and coconut oil and gargle with the mixture. This mix contains plenty of antibacterial qualities which soothe tooth discomfort quickly.

11.) Wound cleaning and disinfection- this is especially beneficial for small wounds, which can be cleaned with 3 percent HP. You need a small cap of the liquid that you can directly apply on the wound.

12.) Mouth rinse- aside from your teeth, HP can keep your mouth clean from bacteria and infections. To do this accordingly, gargle with 1 cup of water mixed with 2 caps full of HP.

13.) Skin cleanser- treat acne and get glowing skin by washing your face with a 3 percent HP. Tis will clean the pores, the existing acne and will prevent new acne from appearing.

14.) Eliminate boils- In a bathtub, pour only one cup of 35 percent HP. Soak in the tub to get rid of boils forever and regenerate the skin as well.

15.) Treats calluses and corns- to soften calluses and corns and destroy them for good, mix equal parts of HP and warm water and soak in it.

16.) Removes earwax- hidden earwax is more persistent than outer wax, but you can successfully deal with it by using HP. Pour 2 drops of HP in each ear. The, add a few drops of olive oil in each ear as well. After a couple of minutes, drain liquid from ears and the wax will come out together with the HP.

17.) Protection from swimmer’s ear- this ear infection is very common and unpleasant. Prepare remedy by mixing 1 cap of HP with a little vinegar and pour in a small container. Put a couple of drops in each ear after swimming, and you will prevent infections completely.

18.) Cure ear infections- if your ear is already infected, apply 8 drops of HP to in it.

19.) Get rid of skin mites- HP can help you deal with skin mites in no time. Spray HP on affected skin and repeat treatment, wait a few minutes, and then repeat process.

20.) Helps with foot fungus- prepare a mixture of HP and water. Keep liquid in a dark glass bottle, so the HP isn’t in direct contact with the sunlight. Apply mix to fungus directly. For best results, mix equal parts of 3 percent HP and water.

21.) Meat, fish and poultry marinade- as strange as it may sound, this actually works. Place these products into a casserole with equal parts of water and HP in it. Cover casserole lightly and store in fridge for half an hour. Rinse foods before cooking for best results.

22.) Mushroom cultivation- HP can be used to grow oyster mushrooms in the fridge. Take 1 gallon of diluted HP and freezer bags. Oyster mushrooms require about 6 months in order for them to grow with this method.

23.) Clean toothbrush- for best oral hygiene, you can use HP to clean your toothbrush. Soak toothbrush into HP and all bacteria will be killed immediately.

24.) Stain remover- fabric stains, especially from blood are successfully removed with HP. Apply directly on stain, let it act for one minute and clean with cold water. Repeat if needed.

25.) Clears fungus from aquariums- To keep your aquarium clean, HP is the best option. Suitable directions for use can be found on the internet, since you need to keep in mind not harming the fish.

26.) Keeps your pets healthy- if your pet is having problems with vomiting certain foods or swallowing objects, HP can soothe their stomach effectively. What it does, is it forces the pet to release all suspicious food or swallowed objects through throwing up.

27.) Dishwashing- if you are out of detergent, HP will get the job done. It may not be as effective but it is quite handy. Also, you can prolong your dishwasher if you mix it with HP and use it as such.

30.) Bleach laundry- white fabrics do not stay perfectly white forever, so you can try HP to keep them clean and spot-free. Add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to the wash and let the laundry soak for 30 minutes. Afterwards, wash clothes as per usual.

31.) No more organic stains- anything from sweat, blood, wine and coffee can be cleaned with HP. Mix 1 part dish detergent with two parts HP and apply directly onto stains. Keep in mind that due to the bleaching properties of HP, it can lighten dark fabrics as well.

32.) Neutralizes odors- HP removes unpleasant odors especially from fabrics. Mix white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and soak fabrics in it. After regular wash afterwards, all odors will fade.

Why Hydrogen Peroxide Is an Excellent Option

Hydrogen peroxide has been used since the 1920s as an antiseptic because it is effective at killing bacteria. An antiseptic is a substance that prevents the growth of disease-causing microorganisms, such as bacteria.

When you had a cut or scrape as a child, your mother probably reached for the brown bottle of hydrogen peroxide.

When she dabbed it on your cut, you may remember it hurt. That pain or discomfort was a result of the peroxide activating pain receptors in your cut or scrape as it killed the bacteria in the area. It is far safer and more effective than rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol than is commonly used and less staining than iodine.1

Your Wound Needs Oxygen to Heal

The chemical composition of hydrogen peroxide is H2O2, containing one more oxygen molecule than water whose composition is H2O. When hydrogen peroxide is put on a cut or scrape, you’ll notice bubbling from the area as the hydrogen peroxide releases one oxygen molecule and becomes water.

How Hydrogen Peroxide Kills Bacteria

Hydrogen peroxide works against bacteria, breaking the cell membranes open by attracting electrons. Inside the bacteria is an enzyme called catalase, causing the fizzing you see when the hydrogen peroxide reacts with the enzyme and releases one oxygen molecule.3

Hydrogen peroxide is a very good antiseptic but it isn’t able to distinguish between your healthy cells and those of the bacteria in your wound. The peroxide will attract electrons from your healthy cell membranes, killing them, and react with the catalase in your cells, producing the same fizzing.

Low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are actually produced by your body after metabolizing sugar or carbohydrates, promoting wound healing.

Your cells have catalase to inactivate the hydrogen peroxide produced inside the cells, but are powerless against the hydrogen peroxide you add to your cut from the outside.

Excessive oxidative damage to your cells from external hydrogen peroxide will slow wound healing and increase your risk of scar formation.4 Your cells use catalase to inactivate hydrogen peroxide produced by your body to oxygen and water after insulin metabolizes sugar inside the cells.

This link between insulin, metabolized sugar, oxygenation and hydrogen peroxide produced by your body may be one reason why individuals who have insulin-resistant diabetes heal more slowly.

Most clinicians today do not recommend using antiseptic solutions of any kind to clean a cut or wound for the same reason hydrogen peroxide is not recommended. The antiseptic will often destroy your healthy cells, slow healing and increase your risk of scar tissue formation.5

However if you do need a powerful and effective antiseptic peroxide is my first choice as it is far safer than rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. I always travel with a spray bottle of peroxide as it is also useful for cleaning stains from clothes, especially when used in conjunction with soap.

The Truth About Antibacterial Soap

Although the first patent for antibacterial soap was filed in 1984 by David Poshi and Peter Divone, it was Dial bar soap that first made the claim in the 1940s. Dial didn’t put “antibacterial” in their advertising, but advertised their soap as a way to get your body “super clean” by killing bacteria and germs.

Dial used a chemical, hexachlorophene, an antibacterial agent now proven to cause brain damage in infants. In 1970, the company was ordered to remove the chemical from their soap.

Once Poshi and Divone tested their chemical, triclosan, against bacteria and received the patent, Dial was the first to add it to their products claiming it “killed germs on contact.”6

Today, antibacterial soaps contain the chemical triclosan, despite the mountains of research demonstrating negative health concerns it triggers.

Antibacterial soap companies have mounted huge advertising campaigns, claiming the soaps would make your environment safer and provide an extra layer of protection against illness.7

In December 2013, after 40 years of study, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced they would revisit the safety of triclosan, citing studies suggesting it can interfere with hormone levels in laboratory animals and increase the growth of drug-resistant bacteria.8,9

The concern voiced by the FDA that antibacterial soap would increase drug resistance in bacteria was made on December 16, 2013. Another statement, published just three days earlier by Colleen Rogers, Ph.D., lead microbiologist at the FDA, indicated antibacterial soaps were not effective against bacteria:

“In fact, there currently is no evidence that over-the-counter (OTC) antibacterial soap products are any more effective at preventing illness than washing with plain soap and water.”

In either case, a decision by the FDA is expected to be released in September 2016 after a lawsuit was brought by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), in response to decades of delays by the FDA in ruling for or against triclosan and other antibacterial substances.10

Hazards of Triclosan

Triclosan is an antiseptic substance, and not recommended for cleaning cuts and scrapes because it prolongs wound healing and increases your risk of scar formation. However, there are other reasons you don’t want to use antibacterial soaps in your home as well.

In June 2015, the agency responsible for oversight of chemical use in the European Union announced that triclosan would be phased out of hygiene products because the risks of using the product outweighed any perceived benefits.11 Research has linked the chemical substances used to make antibacterial soap with:12,13,14

How to Properly Wash Wounds

The best way to cleanse a cut, scrape or wound is with a safe, mild soap and plenty of water. Choose a soap without triclosan, triclocarban or fragrance.17 Before washing your cut, wash your hands. This helps reduce the potential for transferring bacteria from your hand to your wound.

Mild to moderate bleeding can occur while you’re cleaning the wound. After cleaning, use direct pressure to stop the bleeding and elevate the area above the level of your heart if you’re able. This helps to reduce the amount of blood to the area to help stop the bleeding.

Rinse your wound with water for five to 10 minutes. This helps to remove dirt and debris from the area. Cool water may feel better to you than warm water, but either is acceptable to use. If you have a sprayer on your kitchen sink, you can try using it to help clean the wound out.18

After rinsing thoroughly for five to 10 minutes to remove dirt and debris, use a mild soap with a clean washcloth or piece of gauze to wash the area. Use mild pressure. Hard scrubbing can disrupt the area and prolong healing time without any added benefit to cleansing the area. Cover the area to keep it moist and clean. Wounds that are kept moist and don’t scab will heal better and are less likely to scar.19,20

Directions

Remember for any sanitizer to work properly, the surface has to be clean before you use it.

Hydrogen peroxide is the only germicidal agentcomposed only of water and oxygen. Like ozone, it kills disease organisms by oxidation! Hydrogen peroxide is considered the worlds safest all natural effective sanitizer. It kills microorganisms by oxidizing them, which can be best described as a controlled burning process. When Hydrogen peroxide reacts with organic material it breaks down into oxygen and water.

1. Whiten Clothes – An Alternative to Beach

Add a cup of Peroxide to white clothes in your laundry to whiten them. Peroxide is great to get rid of blood stains on clothes and carpets. If there is blood on clothing, just pour directly on the spot, let it sit for about a minute, then rub and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

2. Health

Your body makes Hydrogen peroxide to fight infection which must be present for our immune system to function correctly. White blood cells are known as Leukocytes. A sub-class of Leukocytes called Neutrophils produce hydrogen peroxide as the first line of defense against toxins, parasites, bacteria, viruses and yeast.

3. Rejuvenating Detoxifying Bath

Use about 2 quarts 3% Hydrogen peroxide to a tub of warm water. Soak at least 1/2 hour, adding hot water as needed to maintain a comfortable water temperature.

4. Foot Fungus

To cure a foot fungus, simply spray a 50/50 mixture of Hydrogen peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

5. Douche

Add 2 capfuls of 3% Hydrogen peroxide in warm distilled water once to twice a week to remove even chronic yeast infections.

6. Colonic or Enema

For a colonic, add 1 cup (8 ozs.) 3% H202 to 5 gallons warm water. (Do not exceed this amount) For an enema, add 1 tablespoon of 3% H202 to a quart of warm distilled water.

7. Infections

Soak any infections or cuts in 3% for five to ten minutes several times a day. Even gangrene that would not heal with any medicine has been healed by soaking in Hydrogen peroxide. Put half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus or other skin infections.

8. Bird Mites Infections

Patients infected by tiny mites report that hydrogen peroxide effectively kills the mites on their skins. They spray it on their skin a couple of times (with a few minutes in between the applications) with amazing results.

9. Sinus Infections

A tablespoon of 3% Hydrogen peroxide added to 1 cup of non-chlorinated water can be used as a nasal spray. Depending on the degree of sinus involvement, one will have to adjust the amount of peroxide used.

10. Wound Care

3% H2O2 is used medically for cleaning wounds, removing dead tissue, and as an oral debriding agent. Peroxide stops slow (small vessel) wound bleeding/oozing, as well.

Some sources recommend soaking infections or cuts for five to ten minutes several times a day. However, washing and rinsing action is sufficient. You shouldn’t leave the solution on open tissue for extended periods of time as, like many oxidative antiseptics, Hydrogen peroxide causes mild damage to tissue in open wounds. Therefore it is important to use with caution.

Personal Care

Mouthwash / Tooth Care

Healing Properties: Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. You will not have canker sores and your teeth will be whiter. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of3% Hydrogen peroxide into your mouth and hold it for 10 minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

11. Mouthwash

Many people don’t realize that hydrogen peroxide makes a very effective and inexpensive mouthwash. Use 3% H202 – add a dash of liquid chlorophyll for flavoring if desired.

12. Toothpaste

Use baking soda and add enough 3% H202 to make a paste.

13. Toothbrush

Or, just dip your brush in 3% H202 and brush. Soak your toothbrush in Hydrogen peroxide to keep them free of germs.

14. Tooth Ache

Hydrogen peroxide is not a pain killer; however, as an anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal agent, it is effective at treating the pathogen that is causing the infection. The following is from my own personal experience: My dentist wanted to give me a root canal some time ago as one tooth was inflamed and, in her opinion, would die. I felt some discomfort but told her that I would give it chance to heal. I rinsed with hydrogen peroxide (several times a day) as well ascoconut oil (once a day). The discomfort went away and I have had no further problems with the tooth.

15. Tooth Whitening

Having used 3% Hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash for sometime ago, I am thrilled to note that my teeth have been beautifully and effortlessly whitened. I used to pay so much for professional whitening, those silly strips and uncomfortable trays. Live and learn.

NOTE: Do not swallow any peroxide. When the peroxide rinse is done, be sure to rinse out your mouth with water.

16. Hair Lightening

Peroxide is a bleaching agent and is used for lightened hair. Dilute 3% Hydrogen peroxide with water (50 / 50) and spray the solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it’s not a drastic change.

17. Contact Lenses

Hydrogen peroxide is used as a disinfectant in CIBA Vision’s Clear Care no rub contact lens cleaning solution, due to its ability to break down the proteins that build up on the lense from the eye’s immune response, resulting in increased comfort for those with sensitive eyes.

Sanitizing / Disinfectant / Cleaning

18. Straight or Diluted Hydrogen Perioxide

Clean your counters and table tops with hydrogen peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters. Use hydrogen peroxide to clean glass and mirrors with no smearing.

Keep a spray bottle of 3% (straight) to disinfect the interior of the refrigerator and kids’ school lunch boxes.

19. In the Dishwasher

Add 2 oz. of 3% Hydrogen peroxide to your regular washing formula.

Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of 3% Hydrogen peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour or spray hydrogen peroxide (and then vinegar) on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, there is no smearing.

Combination of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide make a cheap, effective and non-toxic disinfectant agent and is said to be more effective at killing pathogens than bleach.  As it is non-toxic, you can use it to disinfect fruits and vegetables, as well as pet toys, equipment and cages.  In tests run at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, pairing Vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide mists, kills virtually all Salmonella, Shigella, or E. coli bacteria on heavily contaminated food and surfaces.

Directions

You need TWO spray bottles. DO NOT MIX the solutions together. Put straight vinegar in one and straight Hydrogen peroxide in the other spray bottle.

NOTE: Light destroys peroxide rather quickly. It’s best to leave it in its original bottle and screw in a spray head. DO NOT DILUTE THEM.

Remember for any sanitizer to work properly, the surface has to be clean before you use it.

When you want to sanitize a surface (vegetables, cutting board, counters, sink, cages, toys. toilets, floors, etc.), spray one (it doesn’t matter which one you use first) on the surface, then you spray on the other.  When they mix, for a brief time the chemical action of the two make a very powerful sanitizer.  You can rinse off the surface afterwards, if you want, but the result is non-toxic.
Fortunately it is cheap. BTW, we use it in the bathroom to sanitize the counters, toilets, floors, etc.

20. Mold

Clean with Hydrogen peroxide when your house becomes a biohazard after its invaded by toxic mold, such as those with water damage.

21. Humidifiers/Steamers

Use 1 pint 3% Hydrogen peroxide to 1 gallon of water.

22. Laundry / Stain Removing

Stain Remover

3% Hydrogen peroxide is the best stain lifter if used fairly soon – although blood stains as old as 2 days have been successfully lifted with Hydrogen Peroxide. Although it will bleach or discolor many fabrics. If a little peroxide is poured onto the stain it will bubble up in the area of the blood, due to a reaction with catalase. After a few minutes the excess liquid can be wiped up with a cloth or paper towel and the stain will be gone.

3% H2O2 must be applied to clothing before blood stains can be accidentally “set” with heated water. Cold water and soap are then used to remove the peroxide treated blood.

23. Washing/Laundry

You can also add a cup of hydrogen peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Peroxide is a perfect alternate solution to keep those clothes white. Also, when chlorinating clothes, they tend to wear out faster – peroxide won’t do that.

Food Preparation

24. Vegetable Soak

Use as a vegetable wash or soak to kill bacteria and neutralize chemicals. Add 1/4 cup 3% H202 to a full sink of cold water. Soak light skinned (light lettuce) 20 minutes, thicker skinned (like cucumbers) 30 minutes. Drain, dry and refrigerate. Prolongs freshness.

If time is a problem, spray vegetables (and fruits) with a solution of 3%. Let stand for a few minutes, rinse and dry.

25. Meat Sanitizing

You can also use it to rinse off your meat before cooking.

26. Leftover tossed salad

Spray with a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 Tbsp. 5%. Drain, cover and refrigerate.

27. Marinade

Place meat, fish or poultry in a casserole (avoid using aluminium pans). Cover with a dilute solution of equal parts of water and 3% H202. Place loosely covered in refrigerator for 1/2 hour. Rinse and cook.

28. Sprouting Seeds

Add 1 ounce 3% Hydrogen peroxide to 1 pint of water and soak the seeds overnight. Add the same amount of hydrogen peroxide each time you rinse the seeds.

Grades of Hydrogen Peroxide

A) 3.5% Pharmaceutical Grade: This is the grade sold at your local drugstore or supermarket. This product is not recommended for internal use. It contains an assortment of stabilizers which shouldn’t be ingested. Various stabilizers include: acetanilide, phenol, sodium stanate and tertrasodium phosphate.

B) 6% Beautician Grade: This is used in beauty shops to color hair and is not recommended for internal use.

C) 30% Reagent Grade: This is used for various scientific experimentation and also contains stabilizers. It is also not for internal use.

D) 30% to 32% Electronic Grade: This is used to clean electronic parts and not for internal use.

E) 35% Technical Grade: This is a more concentrated product than the Reagent Grade and differs slightly in that phosphorus is added to help neutralize any chlorine from the water used to dilute it.

F) 35% Food Grade: This is used in the production of foods like cheese, eggs, and whey-containing products. It is also sprayed on the foil lining of aseptic packages containing fruit juices and milk products. THIS IS THE ONLY GRADE RECOMMENDED FOR INTERNAL USE.

G) 90%: This is used as an oxygen source for rocket fuel.

Only 35% Food Grade hydrogen peroxide is recommended for internal use. At this concentration, however, hydrogen peroxide is a very strong oxidizer and if not diluted, it can be extremely dangerous or even fatal. Any concentrations over 10% can cause neurological reactions and damage to the upper gastrointestinal tract. There have been two known fatalities in children who ingested 27% and 40% concentrations of H202. Another reports tells of a 26 month old female who swallowed one mouthful of 35% H202. She immediately began vomiting, followed by fainting and respiratory arrest. Fortunately, she was under emergency room care and although she experienced erosion and bleeding of the stomach and esophagus, she survived the incident. When she was re-examined 12 days later, the areas involved had healed (J Toxicol Clin Toxicol 90;28(1):95-100).

Personal note:  As with ANY food, drug, or supplement, using the product according to instructions is key to safety.  If someone uses too much, then of course ramifications may be felt.  We’ve NEVER heard of ANY harmful side effects from the correct usage of Food Grade hydrogen peroxide.

 

35% Food Grade H202 must be….

1. handled carefully (direct contact will burn the skin- immediate flushing with water is recommended).

2. diluted properly before use.

3. stored safely and properly (after making a dilution the remainder should be stored tightly sealed in the freezer).

One of the most convenient methods of dispensing 35% H202 is from a small glass eye dropper bottle. These can be purchased at your local drugstore. Fill this with the 35% H202 and store the larger container in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator until more is needed. Store the eye dropper bottle in the refrigerator. The drops are mixed with either 6 to 8 ounces of distilled water, juice, aloe vera juice or gel.

(Don’t use chlorinated tap water to dilute the peroxide!)
