As a doctor I would prefer to give a medicine as an oral tablet than as an injection. The question is why are some medicines given as injections and not orally.

The reason is BIOAVAILABILITY.

Bioavailabilty is defined as the proportion of a drug or other substance which enters the circulation when introduced into the body and so is able to have an active effect.

The liver acts like a filter by absorbing any harmful substances and breaks them down to less toxic substances and this includes drugs.
