How to Get Back into the Energy of Your Life.

The energy of the mind is the essence of life. ~Aristotle

For years and years I lived by striving and trying to get release from all the confusion that constantly surrounded me.

realization

Pain was the name of the game. Poor relationships, strange people, strange happenings followed me like a heavy dark cloud, ready to burst again all over me.

I experienced life like a drowned rat.

This was so unfair.

I was trying my hardest. I wanted to be good. I wanted to do the right thing. I wanted people to think well of me. I wanted love and happiness and all those other things we all want.

I analyzed, and thought and analysed and debated and created all my opinions, that I honoured one hundred per cent. I laid down high expectations for myself and waited for the pay off. I worked hard, sacrificed, went the extra mile, was kind, giving and loyal and still I got major bad press.

What the heck was going on?

I went on my journey of self-discovery. I went to numerous counselling sessions and followed different spiritual teachers. Always striving to find the answer, seeking the Holy Grail, wanting a silver bullet, but it all escaped me. Until striving changed to thriving.

Alleluia for the capacity to change, to let go, to live and thrive in the life you were meant to live.

And if it can happen to me, it certainly can happen to you.

Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth. ~Rumi

So what has changed?

Today my life is completely different but it is only different in so much as I experience it differently. I kinda know what is going on now, I kinda understand more, I kinda know what I should be doing, and I definitely know it works. And it brings me peace, joy and freedom.

Here are 5 ways to get back into the energy of your life:

1. Stop getting involved with your thoughts

I realize now that I frequented a cheap room in my mind that was negative and critical. I got into a conversation with my inner critical voice and I trusted it. I believed it was telling me the truth. I believed I had a handle on my circumstances, but unfortunately I was only living in the illusion of thought.

I upgraded to a better room, more luxurious and more eloquent. The view is nicer from this room.

Change your thoughts and you change your world. ~Norman Vincent Peale

2. Drop your beliefs, opinions and expectations

Many years back, a friend said to me “You are very opinionated” and I thought she was very rude. However I realize now she was correct and I must have been a pain in the neck, blabbing my opinions inappropriately.

My opinions, beliefs and expectations are scarce on the ground. I am happy not knowing anything, and I am exuberant  with all the possibilities and potential of life.

3. Hold no judgement

How we judge is how others will judge us. We can see in our manic world how beliefs lead to judgements, and how the latter can affect individuals. Who am I to judge anyone?

It is a great relief to stop judgements on others because I can also release judgement on myself.

We can never judge the life of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It’s one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it’s another to think that yours is the only path. ~Paulo Coelho

4. Allowing the mind to resolve itself

When something outside our selves triggers an emotional response, we usually go into an automatic negative program. If we get involved in this program, then the outcomes are varied but can be horrendous.

If we practice awareness and restraint, we can allow the chaotic thoughts to settle. When we give time to this, the mind will resolve itself and come to calmness, a place of no thought.

5. Connect with your inner wellbeing

The fruit of this practice is the experience of our life’s energy – joy, peace, freedom and wisdom.

If we let go of our thoughts, and all the attachments that go along with those thoughts, we will experience being alive and engage with it with our pure potential.

I do believe we’re all connected. I do believe in positive energy. I do believe in the power of prayer. I do believe in putting good out into the world. And I believe in taking care of each other. ~Harvey Fierstein

So I challenge you to get back into the energy of your life, devour it, dance it and live it. It is the way it was meant to be. You were born to lead a rich conscious and empowering life.
